Joshua Myles, thanks for your comment. Remember to view the images not as a gallery of shots that capture the overall event, but specific, individual photos highlighting each racer. Our specific task was not to cover ‘event photography’ but rather individual portraits, for individual sale. With this in mind, a gentle or even an extreme angle works great to not only convey motion, but fill the frame like these quick examples:

Note the composition: lines, reflections, shadows, the use of thirds, and how arms, legs, bikes, etc fill the image edge to edge, and across the corners - pretty basic stuff.

I, too am fairly new to the blog world and so far all of my clients are in LUV! (Especially when they can see their own face on it. lol) In your about us page you said “shallow depth of field… black and white…” I like the same. Tight shots. Eliminate all that is distracting. I enjoy your work…
