Kora and I shot a number of labs in the Mechanical Engineering building on Michigan Tech’s campus today. Everything from engine dyno labs to ion engine labs. I couldn’t help but take a couple of Kora in the control room. Meghan did a great job arranging the schedule with Kim, and Kim, as always, thanks for the opportunity. Fun shots…

Shot for the growler cozy guys tonight. Good model (go Jamie), good product. Shot with two remote strobes; one to the right in the middle of the room as a key, and the second was bounced off of the aluminum door behind the bar for rear fill. The shoot was for a magazine ad; we thought this style would pop off the page a little better.

Spent some time with the crew at Portage Health, up at the hospital, shooting for an ad series. The series is composed of multiple locations on multiple days to profile Dr. Carlson and all the good, healthy things she does. And healthy is right; all doctors should have the healthy, balanced lifestyle that the doctor has - very inspiring, photogenic, and friendly. Used my handy assistant / model Kora for a shot even. Indoor shots are with camera mounted strobe with gel and fong diffuser, (off the ceiling and through the dome) - outdoor shots are natural light.

Nice new home for Jason and the team from GE Aviation. Shot for the State of Michigan’s MTEC SmartZone, this is at the completion of the remodel of the 3rd floor of the PowerHouse building. Gel on remote strobe, tripod, long exposure, 17-35mm lens here. Shot 3 floors with a variety of angles, used the fancy fisheye lens for a few trick shots shot lying on my back. 180 degree field of view, so it was hard not to shoot my toes. The shot here is a pretty standard one though…

And I’m not even sure how to describe what we did today. As part of a media package for Truman and his Brewery Creek Racing company, we spent a half day shooting the progression of a run. I spent about half of the time strapped to the back of an ATV as we raced in front of the team on the trail. In one of the shots below, Todd is showing me how to unstrap myself if we flip over. Thanks, Todd. All shots were natural light with a 200mm lens. Had the VR off on the lens as I was able to shoot quickly enough, but it was pretty tough to get a clean shot, let alone frame it properly as we bounced around and around. Nice job, dogs!

After a World Cup win in Russia, and two national titles at the U.S. Championships, Kikkan graced the Brockit studio for some press shots. Nice job, Kikkan. The race photography shots are here.
